ABOUT ME

Hello my name is Doug and I have a radio hobby, my first transceiver was a Jana Vindicator a 23 channel cb in 1976.  I have owned various cb's since then till I got my Ham radio licence in the year 2000. Now I just collect Jana cb's and accessories, my one guilty indulgence. Since no one can find anything about Jana on the Web I felt I had to put this Website up for the history and information.

In Canada, the General Radio Service uses the identical frequencies and modes as the United States citizens band, and no special provisions are required for either Canadians or Americans using CB gear while travelling across the border. The General Radio Service was authorized in 1962. Initially, CB channels 1–3 remained allocated to amateur radio and channel 23 was used by paging services. American CB licensees were initially required to apply for a temporary license to operate in Canada. In April 1977, the service was expanded to the same 40 channels as the American service.

Since 1961, hundreds of CB radio models have been produced or ceased to be produced by various manufacturers up to now. Most of CB radio at that time are manufactured by SONY, National Panasonic, Toshiba, Hitachi.  Jana, Cobra(Dynascan) and other brands were manufactured and imported from Japan to around the world. Jana brought there CB brand to Canada in Winnipeg Manitoba (1974), from there distributed CB's and electronic accessories all over Canada and the US. One outlet in Canada was Camguard I bought my first CB in the Metropolitian department store in Saint John New Brunswick in 1976.

This site is mainly about the Jana Brand and pictures of the CB radio's and there accessories if you have knowledge of facts and or pictures of Jana and there products, please let me know what you have. I have only ever seen two pictures  and little facts on this Canadian company.
